Hong Kong based classical composer that has been described as "the most important Chinese Contemporary Composer" by Audioland.
Ma's music always seeks to communicate his ideas, emotions and feelings with the audience (including the performers) through the pursuit of " the True, the Good & the Beautiful ". His compositions are all tonal, melodious, harmonious, well structured, non-programmed, universal and comprehensible. This production showcases the music of a young composer with no hang-ups about communicating to his audience. Ma sees no need for filters, prisms or distorting mirrors. Instead he seems utterly in equilibrium writing music which is far from original in expressive language but fresh in tuneful ideas. Ma is not at all obtuse about his influences and they are laid disarmingly in front of us. |
