Songs of a Grand Voyage. Suitcases full of melodies captured here and there, yesterday and today, each note telling of a new encounter and taking the listener on a journey of adventure.
Each song was recorded by Quadro Nuevo in a different part of the world and each one carries the feel of that particular place with it.
A wild ride across the harsh Crimean peninsula, London's old world charm, a Tango from New York, crazy days in Istanbul, a night of revelry in Transylvania, secret gardens in Malaysia, warm rain in Paris.
But sometimes even the most arduous of journeys doesn't bring us to where we want to be and the tone poem "Die Reise nach Batumi" (Journey to Batumi) is, above all, a story of that which is denied us. What remains is longing.
Grand Voyage, as the name suggests, is a musical logbook full of impressions, experiences and encounters. Full of exhilarating moments and sometimes heartrending, but always vibrant with the joy of making music.
