| The focus of "Afreecanos" is the music of Africa. Alongside Childo Tomas / bass and Julio Barreto / drums , the current members of his trio , Omar Sosa invited musicians from Mali, Senegal, Guinea, Morocco and also France and Brazil to sit in on the sessions. His spiritual ode to Africa is a melange, where Omar Sosa never seems to dominate thereby, but acts more as a catalyst and master of ceremonies who turns in a certain path, takes his musicians along with him and encourages them to make their own explorations. "I have tried with Afreecanos to express a little part of the melodic countour of Africa and its great rhythmic strength." Created out of the preliminary studies of "Promise" this album is a wonderful combination of the cultures of Africa, South America and the Caribbean. |
