Roman Kofman congratulates his countryman Valentin Silvestrov on his seventieth birthday with a brand-new recording of his Sixth Symphony. The two Kiev musicians
are about the same age and have kept in contact beyond their native Ukraine. Kofman conducted the premiere of Silvestrov’s symphony five years ago in Berlin, and during
our production of it with the Beethoven Orchestra of Bonn the composer was naturally a welcome guest. |
